Hotel Petit Tournalin

In a peaceful location amongst the pine trees, Hotel Petit Tournalin is an attractive style chalet building with large windows, giving you perfect views over the Monte Rosa mountains.

Hotel features:

This popular hotel is situated nine minutes from the main lift and ski deposit, along a cross-country track that is lit at night. There are 20 rooms in total, all furnished in a traditional style with en-suite bathrooms. There are also mezzanine rooms (including some for up to 6 people) that are great for families, although this hotel will appeal to anyone looking for a true, authentic Italian hotel experience.

Following in the footsteps of their grandfather Ernesto, Ines and Ubaldo Fosson built the Hotel Petit Tournalin in 1996. More recently the hotel has been managed by their daughters Emanuela and Alessandra continuing the more than 50 years that this family have been involved in running hotels.

The hotel boasts plenty of cosy corners to sit, sip hot drinks and enjoy some time to read, watch TV or catch-up with fellow skiers. In the atmospheric dining rooms, with stone and wood walls covered in antique tools, there’s a chance to discover local ‘valdostano’ cooking. There are mouth watering but simple dishes like ‘la zuppa di Ayas’ (Ayas soup) and ‘polenta concia’ (polenta with melted butter and Fontina cheese).

Hotel Petit Tournalin is perfect for enjoying après ski activities – pamper yourself in the spa, play bowls or relax in a deck chair, enjoying the re-invigorating scent of pine from the surrounding woodland.

Situated just next to the Hotel California and Hotel Le Rocher in a clearing in the pine trees is the traditional Hotel Petit Tournalin, an attractive chalet-style building.

Perfect for those looking for a peaceful location, with just a pleasant nine minute walk along the cross-country ski track (lit at night) to our ski deposit and the bottom of the main lift.

All ski equipment is issued and stored at the bottom of the main lift, so there is never a requirement to carry skis and boots to and from Champoluc village centre.

The spacious bar and dining room, with large windows to enjoy the views, are situated on the ground floor with lift and stairs up to the bedrooms on the first and second floors.

The hotel has a spa area available to hotel guests at a charge of Euros 10 per person. Open after 1600 hours each day; children are welcome in the spa when accompanied by an adult.

The Rooms

The hotel has a variety of bedrooms including some with mezzanine floors suitable for families (including rooms for 6 people). All have en-suite bathrooms. All are comfortably furnished in a traditional style.

Junior Suites

The hotel has recently converted their 2 ground floor bedrooms in to Junior Suites which inter-connect with each other. There is a small nightly supplement for these rooms.

This is the second time my wife and I have stayed at this hotel.
As my wife is a coeliac, she was well catered for at mealtimes due to the owners also having this condition.
After a hard day’s skiiing, it was lovely to make our way back to the hotel for a lovely meal and to unwind.
The staff were so friendly and went out of their way to help us.
    We would definitely go back!

Exceptionally friendly, relaxed hotel run by a lovely family, and with better-than-average food – especially the breakfasts. We stayed in one of the refurbished rooms, which was excellent. Although the hotel is a bit out of town, we enjoyed the 10 minute stroll along the flat and well-lit path through the trees – the walk is not a problem given that boots and skis don’t need to be transported. Though the hotel wasn’t our original choice, we would definitely go back there.

This was my first stay here arriving 14 December and welcommed on arrival. The room was comfortable but pillows were on the hard side. The four course evening meal was plentiful and tasty. With choices for each course. They had a good selection and were able to advise on local red wine after describing my preference. The bar area with wood burning stove was cod and comfortable. Although about a 12 min walk from the resorts centre and bottom of the lift by road, this was shorter if walked through the woods. Nevertheless the walk in the morning was a good warm up for the legs, with a ride back by ski at the end of the day. Lovely helpful and knowledgeable staff on the area and food and wine choice. Due to an early departure last day they provided a packed breakfast to send me on my way. I would certainly return and do hope to do so.

We stayed here in the last week of the season and had a mezzanine room for our family of 4 (12 and 10 aged kids). The room was a lot more spacious that we’d expected and was kept spotlessly clean…only quibble was that the walls seemed quite thin to next door, so sound transmitted easily.
The dinners were delicious, especially the pasta and an unexpectedly tasty combination of veal and tuna – definitely have a taste if offered next time!

We really enjoyed our stay at Petit Tournalin. Whilst not the most luxurious hotel, it has a fantastic family feel with very clean and comfortable rooms, and kind and helpful staff. Breakfast and dinner are plentiful and tasty, and there is a great relaxed atmosphere in the restaurant (and throughout the hotel). We would definitely return.

Super super lovely family run hotel that we fell in love with. The location is a bit out of town, but Ski2 were so fast with the shuttle buses it was never an issue. We had a quad room and the kids LOVED their ‘upstairs’ area, it worked so well. The hotel had such a small family feel the kids felt they had the run of the place after just a day or so. The food was fantastic, and most importantly for us they bent over backwards to accommodate our lactose intolerant son, always making sure there was good food for him and most importantly to him making sure he had the same to eat as the other kids so he never felt left out. They went out of their way to find him lactose free ice cream for supper, and lactose free cakes and biscuits at breakfast time. We already booked to come back next year half way through our holiday and we can’t wait to come back.

This was our second visit with 2 boys aged 7 and 10. They had ‘grown up’ dinner with us each night and the food was perfect – good quality but simple enough for the boys to enjoy. The pasta was especially good.
Great value bar with great local wines, also Italian low sugar artisan versions of Fanta/coke/sprite which the boys really enjoyed.
Very clean and well kept, we have already booked to return next year.

We have just spent a week at the Petit Tournalin and we had a wonderful time! The hotel was a little further from the lift than I would have liked but the Ski2 team were always able to collect us if the children didn’t want to walk. It worked really well. It is a lovely quiet part of the village and right next to the spa which is really amazing! Wonderful that Ski2 have negotiated a voucher for one visit for all those who ski with the company so it is free!

The family who fun the hotel are so lovely and work so hard looking after everyone. Alessandra even has a baby who is a few months old and she is still working morning and evening and smiling! The hotel is a lovely size and as it is only Ski2 people in it everyone is very friendly. We went with our two girls who are 11 and 9 and they had a lovely time making friends. We also had a lovely time and enjoyed a number ofAperol Spritz. I think the best thing that I imagine happens in most hotels that Ski2 use is that you can have a sociable time before dinner with people in the hotel and then my husband and I could have dinner together. As someone else mentioned our bed was rather hard and the pillows too though our children said their beds were really comfortable. The rooms were kept really clean by the staff which was lovely. The children enjoyed their early suppers and their food but we felt there were too many courses for supper. Breakfast was varied but because of the altitude the eggs took 10 minutes to boil!!

This is our fourth skiing trip with our children but our first with Ski2. It worked so well and we have already booked for next year! The ski club that only has Ski2 children was so much fun which made the trip the best our children have been on. All the Ski2 staff were so helpful and always available to sort out private lessons for me when my husband couldn’t ski due to a bad back. The resort is very different to the big French resorts but so much nicer. Everyone we met in the resort was friendly and most people speak French as well as Italian. The slopes were so quiet and yet it was a busy week. We were recommended Base Camp for lunch on Tuesdays as they do a Tibetan curry. The brother and sister who own the place spend a lot of time in Nepal too and a couple from Nepal cook at the restaurant (I think I understood right!). The lunch vouchers also mean that lunch is not expensive like in France!! All round a great experience!!

A very friendly family run hotel. We have 3 children and have just got back from a week staying at the hotel, which we loved. The staff couldn’t have been more friendly and the rooms were perfect for us. We had a triple and a double across from each other. The communal area was comfy and relaxed and the bar drinks were extremely reasonable! Thank you for a fantastic week skiing.

We are a family of five with children (10,8 &6) and had a mezzanine room in this hotel. This room worked well for us and there was still enough room to move around. The hotel was nice and spacious and set over two floors, so the children were free to move around the hotel easily without being too far away. The staff were really helpful at the hotel and nothing was too much trouble. They helped find a solution for wet ski boots and gloves and were on hand when you needed them. The hotel was only a short walk to the lift in the morning which we enjoyed with the children and we were very close to the pool. Finally I was pleasantly surprised by the bar bill at the end of the week which made it a very reasonable choice of hotel!

We stayed here at half term: it’s a lovely little gem of a hotel run by staff for whom nothing is too much trouble. We had a quad room with two beds on a mezzanine, kept spotlessly clean by the staff. Nice communal areas downstairs for pre-dinner drinks (and lots of complementary crisps!), with a very nice fire. Excellent breakfast buffet spread, and arranging an early breakfast on the day we left was no problem. Four – yes four! – course dinner every night (starter, first course (usually pasta), second course (usually meat), desert/cheese) with very attentive waiting staff and a very nice local wine list. My children definitely recommend the pasta! The hotel is a little out of town but only a 10 minute walk to the Ski 2 deposit and gondola, and it’s location meant it was nice and quiet (I doubt Champoluc is the place to have crowds of rowdy apres-skiers but even if it did, you wouldn’t hear them in this location!). It’s also the nearest hotel to the swimming pool complex. My only quibble is the bed mattresses and pillows were very firm.

We loved the family feel to the hotel. It was very laid back and relaxing but still professional and well run. They were amazing at catering for Gluten Free diets. We enjoyed the communal areas around the fire where we could play games with our kids before dinner. Our bedrooms lacked the charm that can be found in alpine locations as we were in the disabled rooms downstairs, but the lack of stairs in the rooms made them perfect for our young children to run around in. The rooms had all the amenities we needed and we loved the view of the mountains.

This was our third time in the Petit Tournalin – we met others who’d stayed there 7 times, which is testament to this great little family gem of a hotel. We would definitely stay again. We had two twin rooms, next door to each other, which worked well with our 9 and 13 year old daughters, as lots of room for all our kit and nice to have separate bathrooms. The rooms were cleaned beautifully every day, so when we returned after a day’s skiing, they were spotless. Breakfast was a nice mix of cereals, pastries (pain au chocolate being the favourite!) and eggs/fruit. We enjoyed sitting by the cosy fire playing cards before dinner each nice, and eating far too many of the complimentary crisps with our drinks! The dinners were also very good, served by such friendly and attentive staff, with nothing being too much trouble. Possibly a few more veggies wouldn’t have gone amiss?! Although the hotel is slightly out of the main village, this never felt a problem as it was a lovely walk through the forest to the ski lift, or the Ski2 buses were always on hand if we felt lazy. Another great stay, and we will I’m sure be back!

We returned once again for another excellent week at the Petit Tournalin, New Year 2019. A full, generous range of good quality food and drink for breakfast and dinner every day as usual with the New Year’s “banquet” a particular highlight. Welcoming, friendly staff and clean, spacious accommodation added to the enjoyment of our stay.
The lounge and bar area provide a comfortable place to relax and socialise in the evening.
The journey to and from the ski lockers at the main lift could’ve been a trudge especially after a long day’s skiing but Ski2, as always, are available for a lift whenever needed.
    We look forward to returning.

We have just returned from a week over New Year (29th Dec 2018 – 5th January 2019). We really loved the Petit Tournalin. All of the staff were lovely, welcoming and friendly – treating us all like family. The food was AMAZING! Great choice of tasty breakfast buffet and then fabulous 4 course meal every evening. It was “home cooking” (which we wanted) but of an exceptionally high standard. They put on an amazing feast for New Year’s Eve which unfortunately we couldn’t stay to complete as the kids got tired and we had colds and needed our beds! Would have loved a kettle in the room for a cup of tea in the morning before breakfast, but otherwise room was fine. Lovely walk to the village through the woods, peacefully situated for being a few minutes out of the centre. Cosy lounge areas with comfy sofas and a fire, perfect for a hot chocolate after we returned from the slopes! Would stay there again and would definitely recommend to other families.

Just back from a fabulous week at the Petit Tournalin over New Year. We were very impressed with the hotel. The bar area is well set up for relaxing after skiing and is very child friendly (games, toys etc). The restaurant is charming and we enjoyed eating there with our children. For New Year’s Eve they decorated the tables beautifullly and gave us a feast! There are several choices for dinner and the hotel are very accommodating. The family rooms are pretty compact and quite basic, but very clean and well maintained. The kids sleep in a mezzanine area up a wooden staircase, which makes it feel more spacious. Lovely walk to the village and well located for the spa.

We stayed at Easter (2 adults, 2 children aged 6 & 9) and have already booked to come back in 2019. Our mezzanine room was great, plenty of hot water for showers and views up the valley. The two sisters who run the hotel are very helpful. Breakfast buffet was excellent, huge spread including boiled eggs, pastries, cheese, ham, yogurts, fruits local honey etc. Wifi was fast and reliable, bar was good value and the local wine list was excellent, with great recommendations from staff. Very good value.
Great location in the woods, less than 10 mins to the pool and village.

This was our second year at Le Petit Tournalin and found it even better than last year. The mezzanine room set-up worked well for the 4 our us (incl children aged 7 and 10). It is a lovely, welcoming, family-run hotel, with a special mention to Alex and Emmanuel for being so hospitable. The standard of the cooking seemed higher again, with delicious evening meals – don’t forget the cheese board… Our children ate with us at 7:30pm and while they didn’t take to every course, there always had sufficient and there was plenty of fresh fruit and nuts to round off the evening meal. I liked the location, a little out of town, it was quite and on a nice afternoon the 10 minute walk home with a view up the valley was better than the bus ride! The bar and lounge area were warm and welcoming and there was the opportunity to meet other families or just sit and read quietly as you wished.Excellent, we’ll be back next year.

  20. John on 20th March 2018

We had a great stay here in early March with our two adult children. A shortish walk to the lifts through pretty woodland and a better option than the road. Using the Ski2 deposit facility under the main lift meant this was not a chore.
The sisters who run the hotel were very welcoming and helpful. It was nice to have the lounge/bar area to sit in after a day skiing and we were fortunate to have other guests who were good company and also happy to sit and chat before and after dinner. We even had the benefit of Thomas’s piano playing ( see Vicky’s review).
Breakfast and dinner were both good with the latter offering an interesting choice of starters, second courses and mains over the days we stayed and as others have noted a fantastic cheeseboard. The pasta course was always sufficient to keep our rugby-playing son happy. The wine list was also well-priced with plenty of interesting local wines and once the sisters realised I was interested they offered one or two options not on the list.
Would we use the hotel again – yes.

We stayed here for 4 nights. The Hotel is about a 10 minute walk from the ski deposit, and main lift, but the Ski2 bus was always around for when we wanted a lift. The hotel itself is great, with good sized rooms and everything you need for after skiing. The Sauna and Jacuzzi are perfect for when you get off the slopes. The dinners were great – 4 courses, with usually a choice of a couple of options for each course. The cheese board is brilliant!

  22. Karen on 19th March 2018

This is a lovely family run hotel between Champoluc and Frachay. It’s a pretty walk into Champoluc, about 10 minutes, but it’s easier to use the Ski 2 bus service when you are in your ski gear. We chose to get the bus to drop us at Frachay most days as it’s easier to access slopes towards Gressonay and Alagna from there. It is also an easy glide in skis along the cross country ski track back from Frachay at the end of the day, but not recommended for snowboarders. The hotel itself is clean and the staff are very accommodating. The spa area is nice after a day of skiing, but fairly basic. The food is fantastic, we ate four tasty courses every night and the cheese board comes highly recommended.
Thanks to the staff from Ski 2 and the hotel who were all very helpful and made the holiday a memorable one, we will be using Ski 2 again in the future.

This was our second visit to this hotel and it was even better than the first. We had a lovely room and the staff were very friendly and helpful. 24. Alex Wilkinson on 20th February 2018

We had such a brilliant half term holiday at the Petit Tournalin. The hotel has a lovely friendly, home from home atmosphere and the staff are exceptionally helpful. We had a family room with a mezzanine level for the kids which was perfect for our family of 4. Rooms are comfortable, clean and perfectly in line with what you would expect for this rating. We loved the dinners and really looked forward to them every night: starter, pasta, main and then cheese or dessert. Throughout the resort, prices were very reasonable – way less than any French resort – so while alcohol isn’t included our bar bill was not too hefty.

The location is great – there is a really pleasant ten minute walk from the hotel to the main lift, through the trees – but if that isn’t your thing you never have to wait long for a Ski 2 bus to transport you. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel if you are looking for a slightly cheaper option without losing out on hospitality and comfort. We will certainly come back!

  25. Mary Young on 8th February 2018

Loved the Petit Tourmaline – fabulous family run hotel, super warm and cosy and the mezzanine room was ideal for me and my three children aged 10,8 & 6.
Very relaxed and easy atmosphere and the food was delicious. We opted for the early children’s dinner at 6pm and they were super helpful about providing for three picky eaters and one who wanted to try more traditional local fare!! Breakfast is buffet style and there is something for everyone.
They were really helpful at organising mini cakes and a sturdy box to take up the mountain for a ski instructors birthday on our last day.
We never made it to the Spa – had every intention of doing so but we enjoyed making snowmen and snow angels around the hotel and messing about in the woodland behind the hotel.
We took some games but the hotel has a good selection for all ages and a great toy corner for slightly younger children.
A fabulous stay and we would definitely return.

  27. Stephen on 24th April 2017

What a lovely, traditional, alpine hotel. The staff we’re excellent and very helpful. We enjoyed the Italian home cooking and the quiet location, set in pine trees away from the main village suited us well. The mezzanie option worked well for us with two young children. The walk to the lifts was short, felt like 5 minutes going there, 10 mins coming back… Heading north from the hotel were nice tracks up the valley. It is also right next to the Wellness Spa, so easy to make use of the pools.

  28. Eldred family on 18th April 2017

A really nice family-run hotel in a great location just out of the centre of town. Five of us (three kids) stayed in a mezzanine room and had plenty of space. Hotel was clean and warm and the food was excellent – kids ate with their mates at 6pm, adults later in the evening. Both menus were great – proper home-made cooking. Staff were really friendly and attentive throughout our stay. The walk to the main gondola in the morning took us less than 10 minutes (with a 5yr old in tow), but we ended up taking the Ski2 bus most days anyway. Absolutely no reservations about going back.

We stayed at Petit Tournalin hotel in Champoluc, arranged via Ski2, during the last week of March 2017 and had a wonderful time. We’re a family of four, children aged 4 and 8 and we stayed in one of the 2nd floor rooms with a mezzanine floor which the children loved. The room wasn’t huge but was big enough, clean and the beds comfortable. The hotel staff could not have been more friendly nor more helpful and we were made to feel very welcome.

The hotel itself was a good value 3 star – clean and comfortable, with good food and a pleasant bar / lounge area. There is also plenty of space outside for the children to run about and explore safely while parents sat and had a pre-diner drink. The hotel is around a ten minute walk from the main gondola in Champoluc (although Ski2 and their excellent on-demand minibus service meant we didn’t walk all that often!

Overall we would thoroughly recommend both Ski2 and the Petit Tournalin and will certainly be booking again.

  30. The Law Family on 24th February 2017

Just returned from a super week with friends. Enjoyed the relaxed, family friendly feel. Rooms were clean and comfortable and lounge area was cosy and informal, perfect for relaxing with children after skiing or pre-dinner. Staff were very welcoming and accommodating. Brilliant to have the flexibility of being able to book children in to early or later supper each night meaning we could do both during the week. We ate well every night and can recommend the carafe of local red wine. We can’t wait to come back!

Stayed 4 nights in a double room with a lovely view over the mountains. Room was quite small but adequate with a good shower. The room was directly above the restaurant kitchen, so quite noisy in the morning before breakfast and after dinner in the evening. Internet Wifi connection was quite good, but the real downside was the bed, which was a rather thin mattress on a plywood base – very uncomfortable!
Staff were very friendly and helpful, the hotel has a real family feel which is great. Evening meals were lovely – 4 courses of home prepared authentic dishes; we were particularly intrigued to sample veal in tuna sauce!! There are 2 or 3 choices every evening including vegetarian option, and service is fast and very good. The house red wine is perfectly palatable, and only €7 for half litre carafe.
One of the reasons we chose this hotel was to use the jacuzzi and sauna in the basement – disappointingly the jacuzzi was rather on the cool side!
Although Ski-2 offer free transfers to the village centre, we never used this once as the 5-10 minute level walk through the trees (and amusing carved tree stumps) was a lovely warm up for the muscles prior to a day on the slopes.

Our second year at the family run hotel and it felt like we had returned to our second home – so comfortable, and the wonderful Alexandria was there to greet us like long lost friends. We chose the same mezzanine room as the previous year which works so well with the kids. We relaxed in the spa facilities with the kids again who love the whole experience. We all ate so well that sadly the ski-ing wasn’t sufficient to compensate for the increased food intake! So, we’ll just have to burn it off before we return again next year!

We had a great stay here in March 2016. It was our first trip skiing with children (10 and 7) and they loved the hotel and have asked specifically to return. The mezzanine room was a particular hit with them but they also really enjoyed the children’s tea at 6pm, which meant that we could enjoy a quiet adult dinner later and felt comfortable leaving them in the room.
The hotel was the perfect size and the staff really welcoming and the sisters, in particular, made us feel very comfortable. The food was excellent – simple but well done and we liked not having a big choice, though it would have been nice to have more pudding choice (it felt like there was one main option for several nights in the week). The breakfasts were simple but plentiful and delicious.
The walk through the snowy woods with the carvings was a particular highlight, especially in the mornings and for playing in after skiing.
The only disappointment for us was the thin walls between rooms and the patchy wifi. However, we have booked to return and really look forward to it!

We loved this friendly, family-run hotel. The breakfast was varied – we especially liked the 5 or 6 kinds of homemade cake! The evening meal was hearty and we liked the fact that salad was always available alongside the main course. The cheese option at dessert was a lovely way to explore local produce. The children (9 and 11) liked their mezzanine level and we all liked the walk through the woods to the ski deposit. The staff were incredibly helpful and we would definitely stay here again.

  39. The Ramwells on 12th April 2016

Our second visit and we were not disappointed. The family were as welcoming as before and nothing is too much trouble. We had a lovely time, ate well, slept well, relaxed in the spa and our daughter enjoyed the garden, woods and playing with friends.

    A cracking hotel!
We couldn’t have wanted for more. We were very satisfied staying in this exceptionally run hotel. As a holidaying couple, we didn’t choose it for its ‘family friendly’ recommendation and for those wishing complete peace from children generated noise then maybe don’t choose this hotel. Having said this we are so glad this didn’t put us off booking this great value for money hotel, as everything else made up for the occasional noisy corridors at 7am…no doubt getting kids off to ski school. Upside was that we had a peaceful breakfast at 9amand on the slopes for 10.30am.

The staff? … Exceptionally friendly, helpful and politely attentive. They were always promptly at hand whether at breakfast, the bar or dinner in the evening.

The food and waitress service? … Compliments must be made to the chef. The food was delicious. Very traditional Italian courses that arrived supremely timed throughout the dinner service. The breakfast was great too, varied continental combined with more English cereal choices and boiled eggs and toast.

The whole ambience of the hotel is cosy and traditional. We loved getting back at the end of the day to a soak in the jacuzzi which you can book, followed by aperitifs in the bar in front of a lovely cosy log fire.

The rooms were very clean and a comfortable bed!

Special mention to the two sisters who were so dedicated and hard working.

Stayed at the hotel for 7 cosy nights and we would highly recommend the hotel for families.

Our children aged 5 and 9 loved sleeping on mezzanine level.

The four course dinner was a welcome treat after a day of skiing. A further bonus was the kids dinner was served at 6pm if wanted. The wholesome breakfast with excellent variety of Italian coffees.

Location suited us as the brisk walk through the snow path (10mins) served as the perfect warm up before the days skiing activities.

There was a new spa which we hired exclusively for 1 hour.

The family who run and own the hotel could not be more accommodating and welcoming – we really enjoyed the experience of their warm Italian hospitality.

We had a fantastic stay at this hotel.
The staff were lovely, the food great and loads of it. It was spotlessly clean and the lounge area lovely with the big log-burner. Our room was big and clean and quiet, the bathroom sparkly clean, spacious and with a really good shower.
The drinks we bought at the bar were really reasonably priced and good quality.
The walk to and from the village was always a pleasure, so beautiful in the woods in the snow and only ten minutes.
I would very happily stay here again, this time we were without kids but I can see it would be great for them too.
Thank you all at the Petit Tournalin and I hope to see you again.

Hotel staff were really helpful, separate children’s tea at 6pm was brilliant. No bath though to soak in after skiing. We walked through the woods every day to the lift and the children really loved all the amazing wood carvings on the way.

We stayed at the Petit Tournalin for a week in Feb 2016 with our children aged 4 and 5.
The one thing we missed was a bathtub for the kids to play in – they had to make do with showers.
We loved everything else – it was brilliant. The staff, the mezzanine for the kids’ beds, the food, the location (quiet & safe for them to play outside with supervision from inside by the fire…), the Ski-2 penguin bus to ferry us around, etc…
We had a truly idyllic week and would love to go back.

Three of us stayed for 5 nights. We were all in complete agreement; excellent food in terms of quality and variety, friendly, welcoming staff, spotless rooms and comfortable beds. Easy and quick access to and from the main ski lift via the Ski 2 courtesy bus helped to make this a great holiday.
    Looking forward to returning!

This was my third visit to the hotel, and my partner’s first, and we both thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We tried the lovely spa for the first time, a lovely treat. The family are so kind and welcoming, and the location is magical. In previous years I’ve stayed as part of a large group of all ages, and the accomodation was perfect. This time we came as a couple, and it was equally lovely. Atmosphere is very family oriented.

A wonderful hotel- I will be back!

The staff were extremely friendly and helpful – quickly learning our names and preferences. They looked after my gluten-free diet with great care and I had to make very few compromises in what I chose. The rooms were warm and clean. Everything worked. There is a lovely walk to the village through the park with many interesting wood sculptures along the path.

  52. The Brown Family on 16th April 2015

We are just back from staying at “Petit Tournalin” having had the last week of the 2015 season from Easter day onwards. On arrival at this lovely family owned and run hotel, we were welcomed warmly by the staff and shown our room (a king sized double, with twin kids beds on a mezzanine level above the bathroom via a stepladder staircase), lovely views and a balcony. The room was better than the 3* hotel rating we were expecting and the bed was so comfortable, that we slept really well all week. The bathroom could do with a little modernisation and we were told by the owners that this is planned during the “off season”. Also the sound proofing is not efficient enough between rooms. Breakfast was superb each day and catered for all tastes and an evening meal of 4 courses was enough to satisfy even the most hungry of us after a long days skiing. The food for a 3* hotel was delicious and generous. Generally the starters were superb, but sometimes the main slightly missed it, depending on what you chose. Although there was always a good choice. Our party (taking up 6 rooms of differing sizes) ranged in ages from 5 to 79 and we were all looked after perfectly, mainly by the two daughters of the family who own it. Nothing was too much trouble in the hotel itself and getting to and fro’ the village and the Ski2 office was either a lovely 9 minute stroll through the pine/Christmas tree wood, or a simple call to the Ski2 office for the minibus, which always arrived promptly. All in all a lovely hotel and we will certainly return. It is not luxury, but we knew that. It is certainly better than the 3* rating that it is given. THANK YOU Petit Tournalin.

We have stayed at the hotel twice, both times in the Easter holidays, and have thoroughly enjoyed it on both occasions. The hotel staff are warm, friendly and mostly chatty. The food is home cooked, plentiful, particularly at dinner, and almost always tasty – exactly what you need after a full day’s skiing. The rooms are well appointed, particularly the mezzanine rooms, which are ideal for families and rather fun for young children. We particularly enjoy the 10 minute walk through the woods to and from the main ski lift – it is a great way to wake up in the morning and wind down on the way back in the evening. We would be very happy to stay at the hotel again.

A lovely family run hotel with staff who couldn’t do enough for us. Very clean and the mezzanine room worked really well. Great spa room which has to be booked and kids are welcome too. Its quiet location and wooded walk was a bonus. We have 2 children with a low level of tolerance to cow’s milk, and each day they discussed the menu with us to ensure they received suitable diets. The food was plentiful – the only downside being the late evening meal start of 7.30pm – the 6pm option for kids was a limited menu and we wanted to eat together. We have no hesitation in returning to this hotel next year.

We loved the hotel. The staff were helpful, friendly and kind. Nothing was too much trouble. They were still smiling despite it being the last week of the season! The accommodation was excellent – clean, comfortable and we all felt relaxed. The meals were great, we loved the breakfast buffet and there was plenty of variety at the evening meal as well as generous portions.
The walk to the ski lift suited us perfectly and the children loved playing in the woods and the garden.
It was a great place to make new friends. We’d love to go back.

  56. Lulu Brown on 13th April 2015

A lovely friendly hotel. The second time I’ve stayed in champoluc but the first time here. Room very comfortable and spacious. Pillows slightly hard but other than that, it was great. It is a family run hotel and the service is second to none. Special mention to Alexandra whose English was excellent and who gave us probably some of the best customer service I’ve ever had. Nothing was too much trouble despite the fact we were a very large group of 18 including 8 children aged 6 to 13. Food was excellent, particularly the breakfasts. 4 course meal in the evenings and pasta course each night was very very good. Wines reasonably priced. Not such a great selection at the end of the season but they managed to find a good replacement when necessary. Spa was very well done with a lovley relaxation area, perfect after a hard day on the slooes. I thoroughly recommend this hotel.

We loved this family run hotel. Family bedroom with mez level for the children worked really well. Cosy bar and lounge area and good evening meals.
The 10 minute walk to the lifts was fine, and sometimes quite welcome to get us ready for a day’s skiing – Ski2 were also generally about to shuttle us if required.
    We look forward to returning!

    A really good lodging.
The staff are friendly and the rooms are very comfortable.
Restaurant fare was sufficiently varied, nourishing and delivered with a friendly efficiency, enabling the weary to retire at a suitably early hour.
Location is pleasant – a nice 15 min walk from town (road or off piste) although ski2 are always there with the shuttle bus if required.
I have stayed at several hotels in Champoluc and would certainly return here unless looking at a luxury hotel.

We had a wonderful week in April 2014, the oldest in our group was 71, the youngest was 6, and everyone was catered for! The staff could not have been more welcoming or helpful. The kids had a riot with all the other children in the hotel, and everyone was very relaxed. Loved the wooded location and the ski 2 bus for the little and the weary. Apart from rather hard pillows, everything suited us perfectly. We would definitely return.

We stayed at the Hotel Petit Tournalin for a week from 6th April 2014.
It was a very friendly, cosy hotel and an ideal set up for families, with mezzanine floors for the children to sleep in and an earlier tea time if required. They were also happy to help to adapt the menu for fussy eaters!
The walk into town wasn’t far but it was easy to get used to being ferried around by the Ski 2 minibuses, which were available on request.
It was our first family ski holiday and the children loved it. I’m sure we’ll be back.

This hotel is in a quiet location and is run by a delightful family. The 4 course dinner each evening was excellent value with a choice most evenings of cold meats to start with, pasta or soup, meat or fish for the main and a dessert, fruit or cheese. The service was excellent, very quick and the two daughters were really welcoming, friendly and spoke good English. Our room was very comfortable although the bed and pillows were a little hard for us. I particularly enjoyed the luxury of a cappuccino for breakfast with a selection of bread, croissants, jams, eggs, cold meats etc. The walk along the woodland trail in the morning to the ski deposit took approx 10 to 15 minutes and loosened up any aching muscles.

We stayed with ski 2 at the Petit Tournalin for a week from the 6th April 2014. The hotel was perfect for the needs of our group (3 families with 8 children between us) The rooms with mezzanine levels are excellent and very cosy for the little ones. The staff were friendly, helpful and attentive and worked very hard to keep us all happy. The food was excellent for a 3 star hotel and always plentiful, I don’t think I have ever eaten so much cheese in a week in my life. The location of the hotel is superb and being just out of town means it is very peaceful. The walk into town is flat and very pleasant although we did utilise the ski 2 vans to ferry us around most days. As adults we have skied for 25 years or more but were new to family skiing, Ski 2 could not have been more perfectly set up for the first family ski holiday and proved we were unnecessarily apprehensive. All in all we had a great time and are looking to book next year already. Bring on 2015!

  63. Steve and Debbie Johnson on 28th March 2014

The Hotel Petit Tournalin was everything and more of what we expected. The staff were amazing, accommodation super and the spa just fantastic. We expected a walk to the lifts but what a surprise to have an enchanting walk through the woods with the most amazing carvings and bird song.

Thank you for such a Happy Stay.

A very friendly family run hotel with a short walk on a footpath through the trees to the skilift.
Rooms are very clean and comfortable with lift access if required. Home from home atmosphere.
    Quality cuisine with varied menus.
Members of the family really friendly and nothing is too much trouble to help the guests.
Will request again next time if available.

We were there for a great week skiing with the Ski2 team. Delightful family who do all they can to look after you. Lovely walk through a park from the centre of town.

  67. Emma on 12th March 2014

We stayed here with our two young children recently for the second time and liked it just as much second time round. The food is delicious and plentiful and it was no trouble to provide a slightly earlier supper for the children if needed.

The mezzanine room was a hit with the children and was very comfortable for us too.

The staff at the hotel are enormously warm, welcoming and helpful and the real draw of the hotel for us. Another great holiday.

  68. The Harker Family on 26th February 2014

A lovely family run hotel with friendly staff, even when run off their feet during half term week! Plentiful home cooked Italian meals and a welcoming log fire in the bar area. The spa/sauna was new and very clean and children could use it as well. A beautiful walk throught the trees to the gondola in the morning to get the legs working.
My only critisism would be (and this applies to most of Italy ) is that there is no kettle in the room to make a hot drink.

  69. Charlie and Michelle McGrigor on 25th February 2014

We are just back from another great week of skiing in Champaluc with Ski 2, staying at the Petit Tournaline for the second year in a row with our two boys, who adore the place and its owners.
The hotel is run by a sweet local family and has a warm and informal feel to it. The mezzanine rooms are perfect for parents with two children and a mountain of delicious local food is provided at every breakfast and dinner, including some excellent local cheeses and Mama’s homemade cakes and jams.
Our week there went too fast and we are all already looking forward to returning for more of the same next year.

  70. Mr and Mrs Lewis on 10th May 2013

We stayed here over the Easter break, 2013. It was a lovely family-run hotel, small and quiet, with a lovely short walk through the wood to the ski lift. The staff really went out of their way to be friendly and helpful. Our boys loved the mezzanine style room. It was clean, warm and had good views. The food was really very good Italian home cooking and just what you wanted after a hard day skiing. The sauna/spa downstairs was new and a great addition. Adults only. We really enjoyed our stay here.

  71. Liz W on 17th April 2013

We stayed at the Petit Tournalin during the February half term. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The dinners were home-cooked and plentiful, and they were more than happy to accommodate our different dietary requirements. The rooms were comfortable and spacious.

It was particularly welcoming to return to a blazing log fire in the lounge, and there was plenty of room for everyone to spread out and relax.

  72. Nicola O'Brien on 17th March 2013

Friendly, comfortable family hotel. We stayed in one of the mezzanine rooms, so had plenty of space for 5 of us. Lovely staff. Easy access to the main lift, via a well-lit path through the forest.
