Hotel Villa Anna Maria

Hotel Villa Anna Maria is a hotel with heart and history, offering traditional rooms and good food in a central location.

Hotel features:

Hotel Villa Anna Maria started life as a family home on the site of an old farm, where Grandma Anna Maria used to make and sell sweets to shopkeepers before they began to rent out rooms. Today the hotel still has a homely atmosphere and feel and is often featured in popular hotel guides by Alistair Sawday, who focuses on creative and unique accommodation.

The hotel is on a steep drive but only a short walk to the ski deposit and main lift. Its position also gives lovely sweeping views of the Ayas Valley.

Overlooking the Champoluc Valley

All the bedrooms retain traditional wooden features but with en-suite bathrooms. There are also some larger rooms for families and some with balconies.

Villa Anna Maria also has a wooden outdoor hot tub – perfect for post ski relaxation.

The hotel’s restaurant offers lovely regional dishes and it’s all served in a cosy dining room with red and white check curtains, adding to the family feel that runs through Hotel Villa Anna Maria.

Run by one of the ski instructors from the local ski school, Jean-Noel, his sister Annalisa and world speed ski champions Simone and Ivan, you are assured of a warm Champoluc welcome.

The Ski 2 driver dropped us off at the bottom of the steep 20mt driveway and helped us to the door with our luggage. We were a family group of 9, & stayed for 4 nights end of January. The Ski2 arrangements worked like clockwork.
The hotel is warm, clean, authentically Alpine, with great hospitality from Jean Noel & sister Anna Lisa Origone and staff. Breakfast was Continental style with a choice of cooked eggs. Dinner, chosen from a fresh menu each morning, was 5 courses of tasty home cooked Italian and local food. Allergies were catered for.
The bedrooms were quite dark, being made from wood, but this added to the cosiness. The mattresses firm but comfortable, en suite bathrooms clean, little hairdryer did the job quite quickly and towels although thinner than UK, were plentiful and dried well.
Being made of wood, the floors creak a bit. 5 of us were on the 2nd floor so probably did more creaking on the stairs and landing than the rest of the guests below. No one complained though!
Lovely to meet Ivan Origone the fastest man on skis (252kmh) and see his long skis. His achievement is on YouTube ,completed in Vars, France 2016.
Hopefully we’ll return to Champoluc and this hotel is definitely the place we’d choose to stay.

Much enjoyed this family hotel in a very convenient location. Every one was very friendly and helpful. Great place for a large family party. Rooms a little noisy and food possible too adventurous. We would have preferred a simpler menu – particularly for the children That said we loved our stay.

We loved our recent stay at the Hotel Anna Maria. The hotel is in a quiet location and a short walk to the ski lift. Our family room was a good size also. This family run hotel is very welcoming. The food was lovely and they were very helpful with food for the children especially our youngest daughter who has a dairy, egg and fish allergy. We would definitely stay at this hotel again.

Hotel Villa Anna Maria is a wonderfully warm and welcoming family-run hotel.
It creaks wildly and the accommodation is simple, but the family are wonderful and Mama Origone went out of her way to make special treats and puddings for our son, who can eat neither wheat nor dairy… Not usually that easy in Italy! This really made it great for us.
Jean Noel and AnnaLisa make a very competent host/ hostess, and successfully persuaded nine noisy norweigans to creep upstairs in their socks after we complained about night time disturbances.
Villa Anna Maria is well located for the lift, but it is not recommended for those who find steep, icy ascent and descent walks tricky… small children may struggle with the climb. The place is immaculate, and it is thrilling to meet the fastest men in the world, hero brothers Simone and Ivan. We would recommend it, but only if you are nimble in your socks after dark. (don’t wake us up with your creaking!)

I have stayed at four Hotels in Champoluc in the last two years, all through Ski2. The Hotel Villa Anna Maria stands out for me because of its friendliness, location and genuine Italian cooking.
The Origone family have run this hotel for over three generations. Mamma Origone produces some excellent Italian cuisine and she has three sons Simone, Ivan, Jean Noel and a daughter Annalisa.
As a single person staying in hotels you can feel uneasy as you sip your soup in isolation. Not in this hotel, Annalisa made me feel welcome and immediately at ease in a relaxed conversational manner.
I met two families who were return visitors, one had been to this hotel over the last 15 years and counted themselves as family friends, a true testimony of the hotel and the owners.
There is peace and quiet in bucket loads. The hotel is on the edge of a forest with no traffic pollution just panoramic postcard views over the valley and only 5 minutes walk from the ski lift. It is old, warm, homely and rustic, and for me has an appealing charm of a bygone age.
My favourite dessert was the Zuppa Inglese (English soup) which is an Italian dessert layered with custard and sponge cake.
Simone holds the record for the fastest man on skis at an astonishing 252.632kmh (156mph). He is a ski instructor, guide and climber. One evening he showed us a film of him successfully climbing K2 one of the most difficult climbs in the world.
I would recommend this hotel and return again to sample the Zuppa Inglese (English Soup).
